Virgin PET
All QazaqEt preforms are made from bottle-grade virgin PET with no recycled content. Here is how it differs from recycled PET and why that matters for your line.
Virgin and recycled PET
| Virgin PET | Recycled PET (rPET) | |
|---|---|---|
| Origin | new bottle-grade raw material | recycled bottles and waste |
| Colour and clarity | consistent from batch to batch | depend on the feedstock; a grey or yellow tint is possible |
| Properties | predictable viscosity and blowing | may vary; blowing needs adjustment |
| Taste and odour | neutral | depend on cleaning quality |
| Pros | a clean product and a stable line | less new plastic, greener |
Why we use virgin PET
For a bottling plant, consistency is everything: the same colour, the same blowing and no surprises on the line. Bottle-grade virgin resin gives that consistency from batch to batch, so all our items are made from it with no recycled content.
Is recycled PET bad?
No. Recycled PET reduces the amount of new plastic, and in many countries its share in bottles is growing. But for food contact it must be deeply cleaned with special processes, and its properties depend more on the feedstock. If you need preforms with rPET content, message us and we will discuss.
How to spot raw material problems
- A grey or yellowish tint in clear preforms.
- Black specks and inclusions in the wall.
- Varying clarity within one batch.
- An odd smell when the box is opened.
