Which neck runs on your line?
The neck sets the cap and the capper, so it is chosen first. Compare the three standards and check against your bottle.
Identify a neck by its sizePCO 1881
Short neck: the most common standard for water and soft drinks. About 1.3 g lighter than PCO 1810, so the bottle costs less.

- ≈17 mm
- Thread diameter
- 28 mm

- 19.2-40 g

PCO 1810
The classic taller neck. Found on lines whose capper is set up for 1810 caps, often for carbonated drinks.
- Neck height
- ≈21 mm
- Thread diameter
- 28 mm

- 39.4 g
- Bottles

38 mm
A wide neck for large drinking water bottles, capped by hand or by machine.

How to check your neck. Measure from the top of the neck to the support ring. About 17 mm means PCO 1881, about 21 mm means PCO 1810. Caps for the two standards are not interchangeable.
Anatomy of a preform
We cut a 32 g PCO 1881 preform in half to see what is inside. Each part has a job: capping, handling in the machine, stretching and bottle strength.
Full article on preform design
- Threaded neck
The finished part of the bottle that does not change during blowing. Caps and the capper are matched to it.
- Support ring
The machine holds and carries the preform by this ring. Everything below it gets stretched.
- Body wall
The material reserve of the future bottle. A thicker wall means a heavier preform and a stiffer bottle.
- Base and gate
This is where the melt entered the mould. A clean gate with no strings or bubbles shows careful moulding.
How a preform becomes a bottle
Keep scrolling: a 21.7 g PCO 1881 preform is heated, stretched and blown into a 0.5 L bottle, as in the blow moulder on your line.
Preform
An injection-moulded blank with the finished neck: thread and support ring are final.
Heating
Infrared lamps heat the body to 100-110 °C. The neck stays cool so the thread keeps its shape.
Stretching
A stretch rod pulls the preform down to about three times its length.
Blowing
Air at up to 40 bar presses the wall against the mould, thinning it to a fraction of a millimetre.
Bottle
The mould cools the PET and the bottle is ready to fill. It weighs exactly as much as the preform.
Simplified diagram: settings depend on the blow moulder and the mould.
PET under heat
Move the temperature and watch how the material behaves. This is where storage rules and blow moulder heating settings come from.
PET properties in detailThe repeating unit of polyethylene terephthalate: ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid residues. Thousands of them in a chain give PET its strength and clarity.

What our preforms are used for

Illustration. Between polarisers PET shows wall stress as colour bands. An even pattern means an even wall, which is why preforms are checked this way in production.
Quality you can see through
A bottle is only as good as the preform it was blown from. That is why we use virgin PET and standard necks.

All questions and answersHow do I choose the preform weight?
As a guide from our catalogue: 19.2-24 g for 0.5 L, 26-35.3 g for 1 L, 39.4-40 g for 1.5 L and 64 g for 5 L. Carbonated drinks need the upper end of the range. If unsure, send us a photo of your bottle and the blow moulder model.
What is the difference between PCO 1881 and PCO 1810?
Both are 28 mm necks. PCO 1881 is shorter (17 mm vs 21 mm) and about 1.3 g lighter, so the bottle costs less. Their caps are not interchangeable: choose the neck to match the caps and capper on your line.
What is the minimum order?
It depends on the item and stock. Send us the weight, neck and quantity, and we will reply with the price, minimum batch and shipping date.
Do you have tinted preforms?
Yes. The main colours are clear and blue. Ask about other colours, such as brown for beer, when ordering.
How should preforms be stored?
Indoors, dry, out of direct sunlight and in the original packing. In winter, keep the batch in a warm shop for at least a day before blowing so the preforms warm evenly.
Do you work with VAT?
Yes. QAZAQET LLP is VAT-registered. We work under contract with a VAT invoice and closing documents.
How fast do you ship?
It depends on the item and batch size. Send the weight, neck and quantity and we will give you an exact shipping date.
Do you deliver to other cities?
Yes: across Shymkent and the region, and to other regions of Kazakhstan and neighbouring countries by arrangement. The cost depends on volume and address.
