How to choose the weight
A guide by bottle size. The exact choice depends on bottle shape, the drink and the blow moulder.
Match by drink| Bottle | Preform weight | Neck | Item pages |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.5 L | 19.2, 21.7, 24 g | PCO 1881 | 19.2 21.7 24 |
| 1 L | 26, 31.7, 32, 35.3 g | PCO 1881 | 26 31.7 32 35.3 |
| 1.5 L | 39.4 and 40 g | PCO 1810, PCO 1881 | 39.4 40 |
| 5 L | 64 g | 38 mm | 64 |
Weight sets the wall thickness of the future bottle. A heavier preform gives a stiffer bottle that holds gas pressure better, but uses more PET per piece.
Still water uses the lower end of the range, carbonated drinks and beer the upper end. If your blow moulder runs a specific weight, send it to us and we will find the closest item.
Three neck standards
The neck is chosen to match the caps and capper on your line. Each standard has its own page with a drawing and dimensions.
